The B2C Team

David M. Eckert
founder and principal

Prior to founding B2C Advisors, David spent 16 years at Bed Bath & Beyond as their Vice President & General Manager of the Health, Beauty and Consumables Division. Throughout his tenure, David was responsible for over $1.7b in annual revenue in these important traffic- driving businesses of OTC’s and Health Care, Beauty, Personal Care, Personal Care electrics, Household essentials, Impulse Food, Hot Beverage, and Seasonal consumables.

Early on at Bed Bath & Beyond, David was the architect behind the successful development of the Health & Beauty business. He was brought on-board after the acquisition of the Harmon Face Values concept and orchestrated the rollout of the Health & Beauty store-within-store format for BBB, driving this business from less than $75MM annually to over $1B at the end of his tenure. The development of Health & Beauty was a defining moment for BBB – adding consumable products to a home goods retailer resulted in significant increase in customer trips, increased basket size, and accretive revenue and profitability.

In addition to managing the Bed Bath & Beyond and Harmon Face Values Consumables Division, David and his merchant team were responsible for Consumable businesses for the other concepts within the BBB enterprise; Buy Buy Baby and Christmas Tree Shops. The success of these efforts resulted in the same significant increase in customer trips, increased basket size, and accretive revenue and profitability for these two important concepts .

Prior to Bed Bath & Beyond, David spent over 25 years at Pathmark Stores. Starting his retail career at the NY Metro’s leading Supermarket chain. David started on a retail management path, entering the management training program after college, and rising through the ranks of the business. From Store Management to Manager of the Philadelphia Division’s Planning & Budgets, David transitioned to a role in Corporate Merchandising becoming Sales & Advertising Manager for the Nonfood Division of the company. Having a desire to round out his merchant experience, David moved into Category Management, responsible for Health Care, OTC’s, and VMS businesses. David ended his career at Pathmark as a Director of Category Management, Health & Beauty care Division.

His humble beginnings at Pathmark Stores became a strong underpinning for a successful retail career. Working in the razor-thin margin environment, high volume, fast-paced, Supermarket business instilled strong values and solid foundation as a successful merchant, visionary and business leader.
